How to read your BMI:-
Underweight : BMI less than 18.5
Normal weight : BMI between 18.5 and 24.9
Overweight : BMI between 25 and 29.9
Obese : BMI more than 30

*Note* : BMI is a good (but not perfect) measure of your total body fat, which is linked to the risks of disease and death. Although BMI is valid for both men and women, it does have some limits that you should know:-

  • For athletes and very active persons, it may overestimate the body fat (muscles have weight too but this is not taken into account)
  • For older or inactive persons, it may underestimate the body fat
